In early April 2009, off the coast of Africa, several Somali pirates attack and attempt to seize the massive container ship MV Maersk Alabama. The ship's crew vigorously resists and in the end does not allow themselves to be captured. The invaders are forced to retreat and leave the ship in a small boat, taking Captain Richard Phillips with them.
