20 Movies Like Serenity (2005)

The near future. Several years ago, mankind launched a program to search for extraterrestrial life, Project Lima, led by Captain Clifford McBride. The last signal of the expedition was detected in the vicinity of Neptune, and since then nothing was known about its fate. Captain McBride himself became a hero and the most famous astronaut who inspired many to explore space.

Sixteen years after the disappearance of Project Lima, strange bursts of energy begin to occur on Earth, disabling electrical systems and wreaking havoc and destruction. According to the U.S. space agency, the signal comes from Neptune, and now the son of a famous astronaut, Major Roy McBride, is assigned an important mission. He must get to a Martian base and from there try to contact his presumably living father.

The year is 2054. A special pre-crime unit has been in existence for six years. An experimental program has been developed based on psychic technology that allows the department's employees to learn about a murder that has not yet been committed and arrest a suspect before he commits a crime.

This system of convicting criminals and preventing crime is becoming more widespread. The system works perfectly, but the scariest part begins when you find yourself accused of a homicide that has not yet been committed.

A spaceship with 5,000 passengers on board, plunged into an artificial dream for the duration of the flight, is heading for the planet that will become their new home. Everything goes according to plan, but due to a system malfunction, the two passengers suddenly wake up and realize that it is 90 years to the final destination of the journey, and they are destined to spend the rest of their lives together in the luxurious interiors of the ship, equipped with the latest technology. Gradually, Jim and Aurora become irresistibly attracted to each other, but the ship gets into trouble, and now the lives and fate of all the inhabitants of the ship are in their hands.

The year 2057. The sun is dying, and humanity faces the prospect of extinction. Planet Earth's last hope lies in the Icarus 2, a spaceship crewed by eight men and women, led by Captain Kaneda. Their mission is to deliver a nuclear charge with which to reignite the fading Sun.

No one would have believed at the beginning of the 21st century that beings more advanced than man were keeping a watchful eye on everything that was going on on Earth; that while people were going about their business, they were being investigated and studied.

With endless complacency, men went to and fro all over the globe, busy with their own affairs, confident in their power over matter. Meanwhile, across the abyss of space, beings with a highly developed, cold, emotionless intellect were looking at the Earth with eyes full of envy, and slowly but surely were working out their plans, hostile to us...

While the earthly world is on the brink of a war for resources, in space a group of scientists is testing a device that could solve the problem of the energy crisis. Several unsuccessful attempts lead the scientists to despair. Fuel is left for three launches, and when the device is launched successfully, the joy is short-lived as the team has to deal with very strange phenomena.
